Post Induction Training
IBP is operating as a conduit for the entry of fresh university graduates into the banking and financial sector. Once selected for the job these youngsters are put to rigorous post induction training. The training program is designed and developed in consultation with concerned banks according to their preference and needs. Such program varies from two weeks to twelve weeks, covering wide variety of technical and personal development areas. The program has two tier objectives, first, imparting basic knowledge on Banking Laws, products, processes and risk, second, linking academic knowledge with the practical application in Banking.
Need Based Customized Training
Banks based on their formal or informal Training Need Analysis (TNA) identify the knowledge/skill gaps among their executives and officers. In order to fill the critical needs, they demand specific training programs for short or long durations and IBP accordingly develops and delivers it for the selected groups.
Scheduled Training
IBP annual knowledge calendar is worked out by the Academic Board after incorporating the suggestions and demands of the human resource departments of the institutional member banks and financial institutions. The resource persons, co-ordinators and other speakers also suggest topics and the desired methodologies for enhancing effectiveness of our training programs. The annual calendar for 40 plus centres is then released to all stakeholders as also posted on the website. During various stages of implementation, additions, deletions and amendments are made in the courses titles and contents according to the changing needs. A monthly knowledge plan is released on regular basis to facilitate the banks and financial institutions in selection suitable staff for training. They accordingly nominate their executives and officers for participation in their chosen program.
Effective Branch Management & other Certificate Courses
Demand driven Certificate Courses are designed and conducted on regular basis. IBP Council headed by Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, felt the need of a very powerful high value certificate program for the managers of banks and financial institutions. This 120 hours program has a strong dose of soft skills under the regime of “Unleash the hidden potential”. Besides class room lectures, case studies and group work, guest speakers are also invited to share their rich experience. A proper testing mechanism is put in place to ensure the effectiveness of the program. As a terminal objective the participants are required to prepare a business plan for their branch. This program is running at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar simultaneously. In addition to this program for the branch managers a separate program is developed for the professionals working in leasing sector. It is a 100 hours program on lease operations and management. A series of certificate programs on Business Communication is offered in every quarter.
Certificate Classes
In order to provide structured syllabus based formal education to the prospective examinees of IBP Superior Qualification, regular classes are held at major examination centres. Such classes are scheduled in the evening hours so that the working participants may attend without disturbing their office work. Those attending 75% or more classes are entitled to receive participation certificate.
On-Site Training
Some of the banks, financial institutions desire to have training programs at their own site. Such demand driven programs are designed in consultation with the institutions concerned. Besides location, its coverage, depth, training objective and financing are also determined with mutual consultation.
Overseas Training
IBP established its first overseas coordinating office at Kabul in May, 2005. First training program was offered at the Afghanistan Central Bank which was attended by 25 executives from ten institutions. Another need based training was offered for the staff of Afghanistan International Bank. Since then five more training programs have been conducted for this bank. A two-week training program was conducted for Afghan Credit Support Program. Recently a one-week program for the staff of a bank under incorporation was successfully delivered. Two important members of Afghanistan International Bank (AIB) attended a course on Treasury Operations at Karachi. A group of 22 senior central bankers attended a two week training program at Karachi. IBP is gearing up to launch an international series in French language to be offered at international centres besides Karachi and Islamabad.
Training by International Speakers
IBP is organizing series of training programs, talks, workshops and other knowledge sharing events at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. Quality training program were launched in association with International Finance Corporation, Senior Experten Service (Germany), Planet Finance (France), International Centre for Leadership in Finance (Malaysia). Besides this, lead scholars from IRTI, the training arm of Islamic Development Bank, World Bank, Bundesbank, Deutsche Bank, Standard Bank UK, also steered knowledge sessions.
Training in Soft Skills and IT
IBP in collaboration with local and international organizations is conducting soft skill workshops, seminars and knowledge sharing events at all important centres. High value courses in Information Technology domain were also conducted wherein the Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Storage Solution and other areas were covered.
Business Breakfast
For senior management who can not afford time to attend regular day long courses, IBP holds Business Breakfast meetings on topical subjects. The delegates attend IBP at breakfast which is followed by talk by an eminent personality for about an hour or so. |
